I am a fan of the NBA. Sometimes, however, I am not a fan of sports writers and/or editors.
Case in point. The Jazz have a player on the roster named Ronnie Price. He was a star player for UVSC (UVU) and made it into the NBA and he's great. A great guy, a great role player. What makes me furious, though, is that every time he has a good game one particular Utah newspaper uses the headline "Price is Right for Jazz" in some form. This has happened no less than 57 times this season. I am tired of it.
There are only a few reasons this continues to happen:
- These writers and editors are lazy.
- These writers and editors aren't creative.
- These writers and editors think they are cute.
Every time it happens, the comments section fills up with cries of "Please, stop!" Still ... there it is. In seemingly every edition of the paper:
The Price is Right for the Jazz!
I can just see the sports desk at the News gloating in another "brilliant" headline. "Yeah! Huh? HUH? You all with me?? Right? What. Huh? Zoing! Get it? Because Ronnie Price is a player on the Jazz and there is a show called "Price is Right" on TV!! See what we did there?! Har!"
